We are pleased to announce that Dede, along with her former U.S. National and Saturn Pro Cycling teammate Julie Young have launched a new podcast focused on female endurance athletes and their coaches.  Their motivation behind launching this podcast is to provide female endurance athletes with scientifically backed ideas and information to help them maximize their performance and have a positive experience in endurance sport. But, of course, it’s not only for women as there is lots of useful information for all athletes.

Their guest for Episode 1 is  Jennifer Sygo a dietitian, sports nutritionist, author, and speaker specializing in nutrition for performance. Jenn is in her fifth season as the Performance Dietitian for the 2019 NBA champion Toronto Raptors.  A graduate of McMaster University with a degree in Biochemistry, Jennifer was awarded a Master of Science in Human Biology and Nutritional Sciences from the University of Guelph, where she specialized in Nutrition, Exercise, and Metabolism.  Over her 18-year career, Jennifer has provided nutrition support to Olympic and professional athletes in over 20 sports, and has served as team dietitian for Athletics Canada, Swimming Canada, Gymnastics Canada, and the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Most recently, Jenn’s research interests led to her to undertake a PhD in Sport Science at Nottingham Trent University, where she is studying the impact of low energy availability on sport performance under the guidance of Professor Kirsty Elliott-Sale.  Outside of her work, Jenn is an avid sports enthusiast, a proud mother of two active boys and is often spotted running on the trails around her hometown of Toronto.

Although Jenn has a wide range of expertise, the discussion in Episode 1 focuses on menstruation, low energy availability, nutrition and performance as it pertains to female endurance athletes.
