Toronto expands its cycling network We heard great news yesterday, as Toronto has announced it will expand its cycling network by 25 km in bid to ensure physical distancing amid COVID-19. Cycling infrastructure is a vital safety and efficiency measure to support using bikes for transport. Cycle Toronto and change.org have worked hard to develop a coalition of orngizations and individuals who have been lobbying for better cycling infrastructure. If you would like to support this objective and are Toronto based, we suggest the following actions:
  1. Please send a quick e-mail to Mayor Tory (mayor_tory@toronto.ca) and your city councillor to thank them for supporting the new bike lanes including on Bloor-Danforth.
  2. As a way to build support for bike lanes on Yonge, please sign and share Cycle Toronto’s Yonge Loves Bikes pledge. If you are interested in helping with that campaign, you can reach out to info@cycleto.ca to find out more. You can also look up Toronto Centre Cyclists and Cycle Toronto Midtown whose groups are focused on Yonge Street.
