Most bike shops have a sea of disc brake bikes these days with few or no options for those that appreciate the simplicity and merits of calliper brakes. Calliper brakes are still very relevant and are the most suitable option for many cyclists.
This bicycle was built for a recent retiree who moved from Toronto back to her home province of Nova Scotia. The bike will be ridden on rail trails, packed gravel, road rides and used for light touring and shopping trips. With a Shimano 105 mechanical groupset and Velo Orange mid-reach calliper brakes, it is easy to service and has clearance for up to 700C x 35mm tires. Honjo fenders were fitted and a custom Mariposa rear carrier with a chrome finish was built to accommodate panniers.
