Jan Heine, the publisher of Bicycle Quarterly has begun 2018 by debunking 12 Myths In Cycling. According to Jan, 15 years ago, when he launched Bicycle Quarterly, “it seemed that most of the technical aspects of bicycles were well-established. And yet, as we tested many different bikes, we started to question many of the things we had accepted as ‘facts.’”
To celebrate their 15th anniversary, Jan takes a look at some of these myths and explains why they (and everybody else) used to believe them, and how things really work. Read the first three myths:
1. Myth 1: Wider Tires Are Slower
2. Myth 2: Titanium Is Lighter Than Steel
3. Myth 3: Fenders Slow you Down
