- By now, many of you may have watched ESPN’s 30/30 Lance Documentary. We’ve not had a chance to view it, but the one question that’s come up over and over again is, why did he do it? Is he trying to redeem himself? Dr. Michael Shermer recently published Wicked Games: Lance Armstrong, Forgiveness and Redemption, and a Game Theory of Doping, which explores the psychology behind doping in sport and Lance’s attempt to redeem himself. The article is a follow up to and extension of Dr. Shermer’s article in the April 2008 issue of Scientific American.
What to cook this week.
Pan Con Tomate
This simple recipe is extremely satisfying after a long day on the bike. Salty and filling, it works well as a snack, appetizer, tapa or side dish to a meal. A favorite snack of our kids when we lived in Girona was Pan Con Tomate (in Catalan it’s Pa amb Tomaquet!) topped with some dark chocolate.
Ingredients:
- 3 toasted slices of bread
- 2 gloves of garlic (optional)
- 2 mature tomatoes
- Olive oil
- Sea salt
Rub the garlic on the toast, then cut open and rub the tomatoes on the bread, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle sea salt on top.
