Description
The Montebello perfectly represents how a bike’s design is a solution to something greater than achieving forward momentum. Even though long-distance rides, called brevets, randonneurs, or audaxes (depending on where they happen), date back more than a century, creating bikes uniquely suited for riding hundreds of kilometers at a time has been less of a priority. Each year Tom Ritchey averages about 15,000 miles in the saddle, which doubles as his “lab” for designing new bikes.
Not simply another road bike, the Montebello adds features and design touches aimed at riders who desire to ride longer than long-distance rides. Built with proprietary triple-butted Logic steel tubing, the Montebello sports increased stack, a longer wheelbase, and a lower bottom bracket than its Road Logic sibling. Such geometrical choices deliver a welcoming and stable ride when you see the sun set and rise again. Other practical features of the frameset include fender and rack mounts that Ritchey fans have been asking for.
This unique bicycle also includes the new WCS Carbon Brevet Fork designed specifically for this frame. With clearance for 40c tires without a fender — or 36 with a fender, this fork has special mounting options for either a porteur or lowrider rack on its legs, and threaded drilling in the crown for attaching said rack lights. Ideal for long rides, internal Dynamo routing is fast becoming standard among Ritchey adventure forks. And, of course, the Brevet Fork sports the hallmark of Ritchey forks – a 1–1/8th straight steerer for a precise yet forgiving ride experience. Rack and fender mounts, Internal Dynamo Routing, Porteur or Low-Rider Rack Mounts, and External cable routing w/ routing for Di2 12 speed.
This bicycle is built with a Shimano 105 Di2 2 x 12 speed drivetrain, GRX Wheels and Rene. Herse Bon Jon Pass Endurance 700c x 35mm tires. Fenders, carriers, lights and a dynamo front hub can be added to the bike. Also, we can upgrade the wheels and or tires. Please contact us for options and an estimate at [email protected]
