Description
The ultimate tire for bikepacking and gravel adventures! Developed together with bikepacking legend Lael Wilcox, the Fleecer Ridge measures 29″ x 2.2″ (or 700C x 55 mm), making it a perfect fit for bikepacking bikes. We name our tires after the passes that have inspired them: Fleecer Ridge is the toughest climb on the incredible Tour Divide that traverses the Rocky Mountains from Canada to the Mexican border. On a ride that long, you’ll need a tire that can handle a huge range of conditions, from deep snow and mud via fast gravel to pavement as you descend into towns to resupply.
While the Fleecer Ridge looks like a knobby – and grips like one when conditions get tough – it rolls like a slick tire thanks to its large and strategically placed knobs that don’t squirm and always put the same amount of rubber on the road. The staggered tread pattern not only makes the Fleecer Ridge roll even more smoothly, it also reduces tire noise by creating overlapping frequencies that cancel each other. The Fleecer Ridge is the world’s first bicycle tire with noise cancellation, a feature we’ve patented because it’s so revolutionary.
The Standard casing is a more affordable option that also offers extra protection against sidewall cuts on sharp rocks. The Extralightcasing takes the performance, comfort and feel of your bike to an entirely new level. The Endurance casing is reinforced for extra sidewall protection and puncture resistance, while retaining most of the speed and comfort for which Rene Herse tires are famous. The Endurance Plus casing provides the ultimate in sidewall protection for extremely tough conditions.
The Fleecer Ridge is tubeless-compatible. For tubeless setup, we recommend SealSmart or Silca sealant.
Technical Specifications:
Rene Herse tires combine the performance of high-end tubular tires with the convenience of clincher. The supple casings roll smoothly over surface irregularities. The tread pattern interlocks with the road surface for superior cornering grip, whether your roads are wet or dry. The tread has enough thickness in the center to last many miles, but it’s thin and supple on the shoulders where it doesn’t wear. All models feature:
