The fourth annual Growling Beaver Brevet is September 29. This is a tough but fun gravel event that Mariposa Bicycles co-founded, sponsors and helps organize in Collingwood/Beaver Valley Ontario in support of the Davis Phinney Foundation and ParkinGo. These charities are unique in their mission of helping people with Parkinson’s Disease “Live Well Today.” Being on a clock of declining physical mobility really focuses the mind on staying healthy and enjoying life every day. Over the last four years we have raised over $1 million. Every dollar raised has gone directly to the charities and the event goal this year is to raise another $300,000.
The inspiration for this event came from two friends, Davis Phinney and Evan Siddall who have Parkinson’s. They truly embody the notion of #livewelltoday. Davis, who was a Tour de France stage winner and Olympic bronze medallist, has been a close friend since the 1980’s. He was diagnosed with PD when he was in his 40’s over 20 years ago. Soon after he was diagnosed he set up the Davis Phinney Foundation which we have supported over the years. We’ve seen both Davis and Evan battle with the disease. They’ve inspired each other and each of us to make the most of each day, to embrace the gifts we have been given and to help others.
Mariposa Bicycles in partnership with the Davis Phinney Foundation, Rapha, The Pro’s Closet, SRAM, Zipp, Whisky Parts Co, Compass Cycle, Chris King, and ENVE are sponsoring an auction for two Mariposa handbuilt steel bikes. The auction commences at 5 pm September 17, 2018, and closes at 5 pm September 27, 2018. All proceeds are donated to the Davis Phinney Foundation.
Buying one of these bicycles directly supports the important work of the Davis Phinney Foundation.
We are excited to offer both the Mariposa All-Road and Cyclocross/Gravel Racing bike. Both bikes are outfitted with SRAM eTap components, carbon Zipp 303 Tubeless / Clincher wheelsets, and Rapha Brevet bags.
The Pro’s Closet is hosting the auction on Ebay.
