- Five riders and a film crew hope to use history and the present to inspire a future generation of cyclists with the Underground Railroad Ride. John Shackelford, a 25 year old NYC bicycle messenger and his friends, will traverse 1,114 miles on bicycle along an on/off road route known as the Underground Railroad. Where black people historically fled slavery to search for freedom in the United States. The journey is a medium to process this struggle. Their mission is to share a black cycling story told through activism and adventure, to stay positive, empower, and inspire. They will end the journey with a critical mass bike ride through Washington DC. Follow their story here>>
- The Goderich to Guelph Rail Trail (or Guelph to Goderich, depending on which way you’re headed) runs through 13 communities over more than 120 km of maintained stone dust trail. It has recently been restored by volunteers and is now marked along the route with markers that correspond to Google pins, making trip planning and wayfinding easier. The trail is very flat, making it suitable for cyclists of all abilities. It’s a great way to ride through the countryside.
