This bicycle was custom built at the Mariposa workshop the summer of 2016 for Clara Hughes to be ridden on all-road heavily loaded bicycle tours. All carriers and bottle cages are custom designed and hand built with lightweight aviation tubing. The chrome plated carriers are integrated into the frame and easily removable for lighter weight tours. The frame accommodates tires as wide as 48mm.

Components: Shimano Dura-Ace with Paul Components Klamper disc brakes. Chris King headset and Ritchey stem, handlebars and seatpost. Shimano XTR pedals.
Wheels: White Industries XMR Disc hubs, Velocity Rims, DT Swiss Spokes and Compass Barlow Pass 700C x 38mm tires.
Mudguards: Honjo with custom Mariposa stays.
Lezyne HP pump and Ritchey Classic stem painted to match.

About Clara Hughes:
Clara Hughes is a Canadian cyclist and speed skater who has won multiple Olympic medals in both sports. Hughes won two bronze medals in the 1996 Summer Olympics and four medals (one gold, one silver, two bronze) over the course of three Winter Olympics. She retired from professional sport after the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Since retiring, she has increased her focus on humanitarian efforts through Right to Play and her role as the National Spokesperson for Bell Canada’s Mental Health initiative and the ‘Let’s Talk’ campaign. Clara is an avid adventurer and when not working, she bike tours, distance hikes and explores the outdoors with her husband Peter. “Redfeather” was Clara’s trail name when she hiked the 3,500 kilometer Appalachian Trail in 2015.

The carriers, decalleur, cages and mudguard stays were custom designed and handbuilt by Michael Barry in the Mariposa workshop with lightweight aviation tubing and chrome plated. Clara chose compact gearing with 50-34 front chainrings and 11-28 rear cassette. The fork and rear triangle can accommodate tires as wide as 48mm.
